Are you amazed as the clowns keep pouring out of the car at the circus? Ever wonder what would fit inside an old Volkswagen "Beetle"?
My first patent was really for "outside the box" (or "outside the bug") thinking. Everyone knows there isn't any extra room inside a VW Bug. Certainly not enough room for a camper! That sleeps two?!
Problem :*
It always rains when I go camping.
a little magic
How about a camper that fits entirely inside my Volkswagen Beetle?
Disregarding the naysayers, I designed a collapsible unit that fit inside my Bug. There is room for a gasoline stove, an icebox, a kitchen cabinet, and drawers for clothing. The sleeping platform clamps to the inside ceiling for traveling. When you pull off the road in the pouring rain, you don't even have to get out of the car to convert to sleeping mode. And the door only has to open for about ten seconds during the conversion. Even with two people in the car!
Dowel pins and the car body create an interlocking puzzle that allows the whole thing to be held together with a single screw. Installation takes less than twenty minutes.
In stored configuration, the unit is 4 feet by 2-1/2 feet by 5 inches.
